Friday Night Outfit Tips! [New Earrings & Matching Jewelry]

I made these earrings a while back.
I actually blogged about them here as a secret project.

I only have ONE pair of them left!!!
That means that if YOU want these, you have to hurry on over and buy them before they get grabbed!

The earrings are delicate and elegant.
A pair of studs where each stud consists of a pink mother of pearl heart dangling from a unique silver decoration piece.

They're approx. 3 cm long.

The "I Heart Pink Pearl Delight" earrings cost 120 NOK and can be bought here!

And if you'd like a complete {jewelry} outfit for your next night out to go with these earrings, I'd suggest one (or more) of these pieces of jewelry that will match perfectly!

Pink Rosette Necklace

Pink and White Friendship bracelet
(The second one from the right)

Pink Garden Pink Brooch

Here you see the earrings at a fair
where I sold them before Christmas.
It's not the best picture but you can see what the
studs are like :)

There you have it - a complete outfit consisting of pink jewelry dangling from your ears, tied around your wrist, around your neck or pinned to your blouse!

The Versatile Blogger AWARD

Yesterday I was SO happy- you have NO idea!

Why was I this happy, you ask?

Aimee from Girl Talk commented this on my post yesterday:
Hi I gave you an award because you so deserved it. Please come to my blog to claim it. Thank you! http://aimee-girltalk.blogspot.com

Meaning...
I GOT MY FIRST AWARD!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Thank you to Aimee @ Girl Talk for giving me the award and thank you to all of you that read my blog, follow my blog, comment, e-mail me and buy my jewelry! You keep me going!

And thank you to my family: you are the biggest support in the WORLD and I couldn't do this or survive without you!!! Thank you for encouraging me to do this and for supporting me 200%!

---

The Versatile Blogger Award came with some rules and are as follows:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award by linking back to them in your post.
2. Tell us 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered bloggers.

7 Things About Me

1. I've had the same dream career my WHOLE life: becoming an author. It's still my dream. I LOVE writing and you have no idea how much I write and how many notebooks I have. I love the stationary section of any store - even grocery stores. [I love the smell of new Post-Its.]

2. I've broken both arms 3 times. And my tail bone 3 times. And my nose once. My big toe once. And my foot is currently healing after breaking my foot after getting stepped on by a girl in stilettos at the school's New Years Ball. OUCH. [I am very fragile, as you probably understand, and my foot is still healing. I didn't actually know my foot was broken until 6 weeks had passed, I was limping for ages and should've used crutches, but I didn't know - I didn't think I was THAT unlucky!]

3. I write lots of poems and songs. I write my best ones in under 10 minutes (AKA "Katrine's Ten Minute Wonders" as my friends and I call them). I've also been published in two poetry anthologies.

4. My favourite food is my MUM's spaghetti bolognese. It's been my favourite my whole life. She makes it for me when I'm sick and on my birthday and other times too ;) And I'm just as satisfied each time.

5. I am 100% Norwegian, but I've lived 10 years abroad; 6 in Dubai and 4 in Singapore.

6. I was born with the straightest hair possible. When I was 14 I cut it to my shoulders.. I've gradually gotten more and more curly hair - naturally. Now my hair is curlier than ever - and I love it! :D

7. I carry a pink stone in my pocket everywhere - I have since I was around 7 years old. I used to bring it with me and rub it for good luck. It always worked. But now I have it in my pocket everyday. As you probably understand from #2 - I'm pretty unlucky!

8. I'm scared of most animals. I'm really scared of dogs, but I want one as a pet. When I was recovering from breaking my tail bone once, I went skiing, and one dog jumped on me, then another one 5 minutes later!!!! I was so scared and I fell over! (That's not the reason I'm scared by the way, I've always been afraid.)

Sorry that was 8 things about me, but I get mouth diarrhoea too often and I'm blabbering now as I'm so happy!! ;D

16 (I couldn't chose 15, sorry) Bloggers I'd Like to Award the Versatile Blogger Award to in no particular order:

By the Bonfire
Maluba
Little Miss Momma

Vintage Wanna Bee
Bad Monkey

A Glimpse of Where I Live

I took these photos a while back, on a 'warm', or shall we say sunny, day in the winter.

These photos are taken on my way home from school.

They're taken in Trondheim, Norway, the town I live in.

I hope you like them and that they inspire you!

I think they're beautiful!

(Sorry, I took a lot)

Have a great day!

Your Most Important Piece of Clothing

The most important thing you wear is your personality.

Isn't it strange how we often judge a person's taste in music, the mood they're in, what they work as and where they're from just from what they're wearing?

Forrest Gump said, "My Momma always said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, where they go, where they've been."

It's strange that people do actually wear their life and  personalities.
I've been looking at people a lot lately.
I've noticed that the clothes on our backs reflect our personalities and who we are. They reflect our mood a particular day, or the type of mood we're usually in. You can tell who's gloomy and who's happy.

I know it's wrong to judge a person by their cover, but everybody registers what's around them. And technically, we're not judging, we're just observing people's impressions on us.

Haven't you noticed how people in a group dress similiarly, or how pet-owners look A LOT like their pets?

Think of a tree; you can tell how old it is and what it's
been through just by looking at it and studying it.
People that know a lot about trees know where they're from.
The enthusiasts are attracted to what interests them, and what's
familiar to them.

I think we're drawn to what's safe and familiar to us.
When we see someone dressed as we're feeling or like the way we're dressed, we get to know them. It's easier to approach someone similiar to ourselves.

I don't believe that I have a certain clothes style, but others may see it differently. Others see and perceive me and my personality differently than how I look at myself. That's how it is for everyone.

I wear a lot of different jewelry, as I make jewelry for myself, I get jewelry as presents, and I buy jewelry. I feel that jewelry can change so much about an outfit. If you've got a plain white t-shirt, and a handful of jewelry, you've got at least 7 outfits! It's amazing how something as small as a ring or a pair of studs can change an outfit.

Fashion is not only wearing what looks good and what everyone else is wearing, it's about wearing your heart. It's about wearing what you feel good in. It's about making you happy. It's about fitting in. It's about showing who you are.

The first thing people look at when you meet for the first time, is your outside; your clothes, hair, shoes, face.
This is their first impression of you.

You could be meeting because the outside attracted you and your style or personality, or because of something else.

Remember how important that first impression is.
Because, no matter how much we don't want to judge people by the way they look, we always do.
It can't be avoided.

How we look could be the reason for getting a job or not getting it. Looks do matter.

However, what's most important to remember is that no matter what clothes you wear, the most important piece of clothing is your personality.

What we're wearing has a lot to do with selling ourselves (no prostitute reference intended). We're selling our personality to possible friends. We're selling our skills and personality to possible employers.

Wear what you feel is YOU, and you'll make friends and get the job that you desire. Don't be someone else, because being a copy of someone is easier to catch than a great personality.

Be yourself, everyone else is taken!

Shine, and the world will see you shine and shine with you!

Treat your BFF to a Friendship Bracelet!

Want to remind your best friend how much you care about him/ her?
How about giving him/ her a hand-tied friendship bracelet made by The Gentle Flower, aka moi? :D

I've made lots and lots of them using Eqyptian cotton in lots of different colour combinations.

To wear it: tie the ends together, and then you can cut off the ends and put a little clear nail polish on the knot, so that it doesn't open.

This way it'll look much tidier and is more comfortable to wear ;) The ones on my hand in the photos above have been tied together.

You can buy one of these by ordering in the comments or by e-mail: tell me which two colours you'd like and how many you'd like to order.
You can also order them from my online store by clicking here. The link will take you to the front page of my store, where you click on the picture of which bracelet you'd like to buy.
NOTE: Read the name of the bracelet before ordering + the description to double check that you're getting the correct colour combo.

They cost 50 NOK each.

5 Places to Get Free Inspiration

Jellyfish @ Monterey Bay Aquarium (personal photo)

Yesterday April Bowles-Olin from Blacksburg Belle wrote a guest post on Heartmade (my two favourite blogs by the way). You can read the post over here. It's all about inspiration and where to find it. There are some great tips and tricks!

I commented on the post, because I felt so inspired just reading it. I thought I'd share my tips with you here too.

So here are a few of my tips for where I go to get some inspiration (in addition to April's places):

Muir Woods (personal photo)

Muir Woods (personal photo)

1. Plant or gardening stores. Or a botanical garden. Or a national park. It's usually quiet there so have time and peace to take it all in, plus it's really colourful, and the smells are amazing. I look at texture, shape, colours, what it feels like, etc. Also, it's pretty easy to take pictures there using your phone. I wrote two posts on plant inspiration here and here a while back. Check them out as well ;)

2. Home improvement stores. I look at tools, nuts and bolts, how things are put together/ constructed, shapes, colour palettes, the different materials and their texture, etc.

3. Ikea is also a good place to go. You can even pick up some free fabric swatches for sofas there, which you can save for inspiration later. Look at the swatches; their texture, colour, pattern, the feel, etc.

[The school of fish looks a bit like a Pacman haha]

4. An aquarium. The colours are amazing there!! Whenever I go to one I'm bursting with inspiration! Nature is so fascinating. And it's pure. It's everywhere around us, we just need the time to take it all in. Plus it's free :D

5. A music store. I love looking at posters and album covers. They're so creative and fun. Think about it, this artist or band has to express and represent themselves and their music in one piece of artwork. This artwork has to represent the rest of their art (their music). This can be important to look at for creative entrepreneurs. Creative entrepreneurs need to express themselves through a blog post or their etsy listing or their business card, etc. We need to pay attention to the small things that represent us and our business!

Try out these tips and April's tips. It's free to walk around in stores and in nature. Use what we take for granted every day. Grab each opportunity you have to get inspiration. A camera (eg. on your phone) or a notebook (or writing notes on your phone) would be handy for when you want to remember all your thoughts and ideas. Remember, you may think different things each time you see these pictures, so pictures are clever to keep for a while!

Where do you go for a little inspiration?
