Orange Dazzling Dahlia Brooch - Unisex Debate

Yay! A Dahlia Brooch in a new colour - finally!

Honestly, I didn't know if I would make one in orange. However, I got a special order from a lady in the Netherlands requesting an orange one back in November! So I made it and sent it off! Her boyfriend actually ended up wearing it to a Dutch-themed wedding (as orange is their national colour, I believe) which made me really happy! :D I learned a lot from this.

What I can conclude from this is that:
1. The Gentle Flower products are somewhat unisex. (At least the brooches. My grandpa is going to wear one of these on his suit jacket!) Men like accessorizing too! :

The latest addition to our shop! Red Mini Garden Pink Brooch

2. The Gentle Flower products are in bright, happy colours, proving their versatile nature at various events! (They can both be worn on a daily basis or spruce up an outfit for a fancy event.)

3. Orange is a cool colour! Check out our other orange products as well.

4. Custom orders are da bomb / you're interested in custom orders!

5. I should make more jewelry for different events, themes and occasions!

Are there any colours you'd like to see?
Custom orders make me giddy, so keep 'em coming! ;)

You can get an Orange Dazzling Dahlia Brooch just like the one she ordered over here.

Three Fabulous Fashion DIYs {Guest post}

Johanna Kautt from Be Thou My Vision has kindly taken the time to do a DIY guest post for us today!! I'm super excited, and I hope you are too! This lovely young lady is not only a great friend, but also a talented crafter!! Check out her blog, and please show her some love in the comments and on her blog ;)

When my dear friend, Katrine, asked me to guest post for her, I was completely ecstatic! Thank you for asking me! :)

I've got three small and easy DIY projects for you.

Tutorial number one (Woodlands Flower Hair-clip):

Supplies: needle and thread, scissors, fabric scraps, hair clip, applique.

Start out by cutting three circles (about the size of a tennis ball in
circumference). Turn the raw edges under. Start gathering
all the way around. You are making a yo-yo.

Once you have gone all the way around the circle, pull the
thread as tight as you can (without breaking the thread).
Anchor and knot.

This is what your finished yo-yo should look like.

After you have made three (total) yo-yos, sew
them in a straight line, like that shown above.

Then attach your little applique to the side
of one of the yo-yos.

You can also attach felt to the bottom, to make it have more
stability, and to add a whimsical touch.

I cut the moss around the shape of the yo-yos.

Next you attach the yo-yos to the hair-clip.
Tada, you have your woodlands flower hair-clip! :)

Tutorial number two (Mock Version of a Forever 21 Top)

Make yourself five yo-yos. But this time, make them about
two times larger than the ones above.-- Do so by making
the fabric circles about two times bigger than
the ones you made for the hair-clip.

Arrange the yo-yos in an eye-pleasing way
around the neck of the t-shirt. You
will want to pin them on there.
Then you turn the t-shirt inside out. Sew
all the way around the perimeter of the
yo-yos (with matching thread), making
sure it does not go through the top layer
of the yo-yos (other wise, your stiches will be
visable).

This is the finished product. :)

Tutorial number three (Lace and Felt Brooch)

Grab some lace like that shown above. Cut a small
section out. That will be your lace applique for the brooch.

This is the "backing" for the brooch that I used. I bought
a package of 16 at a local craft store, for around $3.

Cut out your piece of felt. Make sure it will
fit nicely inside the brooch backing.

Using thread that matches the lace, sew the lace
onto the felt. Then use a hot glue gun
to glue the felt and lace onto the backing.

Last of all, use your hot glue gun to attach the pin onto
the back of the brooch. You're done! :)

Brooches in the Hood Brightening My Mood

This morning I was not feeling well.
I was dizzy and had a headache.
I did not think I could manage going to school.
But I pushed myself since I had a short day.
It went OK, and I had a driving lesson afterwards.
It went pretty well.. I felt progress - which is a good sign!

I had a horrible rash when I came home. I think it was a heat rash.. I get those when it's warm. Even though it's still winter here in Norway, I had a heat rash. Just proves how hard I was concentrating whilst driving!

But when I got home, after getting a shock when I looked at myself in the mirror..
I got a burst of energy!
It's so strange - I get these energy bursts at the strangest times.

I was home at 2 pm so I thought I would do my homework for tomorrow before One Tree Hill and Home and Away. (Yes, I'm addicted.)
So I did my Spanish and Psychology and then I even had 45 minutes to kill until 3:15 pm ! Usually I just plop myself down on the couch and stay there until dinner.. but today..

I cut - I glued - I scrunched - I crafted
I found inner peace.

I cut using my awesome Mummin
scissors! :D

My fabric stash and circles I cut out

Getting my glue ready

Glueing (I usually just glue all over
the place but this pattern is just
for show ;) )

Spreading the love

Scrunching it up

I made 4 new blue Garden Pinks.
I even took pictures while I was working (see above). - Sorry, no tutorial, but I thought I'd show you a bit of what goes on here.

I'll be making a necklace using three Garden Pinks after I've made two more.. and I'll make 1 brooch using the remaining one. (You see, one turned out a bit smaller than the others.. and we can't have that can we!)

The stash and a pretty box I store them in

Brooches in the hood

Belly up

I guess the lesson is that no matter how tired I am, I need to craft daily because when I craft, everything else is muted.
My thoughts come at the same pace as my crocheting, for example. I can't think too many things at the same time whilst counting loops - or my crocheting will get messed up. When I don't craft, I think too many thoughts at the same time, lose control and confuse myself.

When I craft I find inner peace and it helps me later as well.

I was still a bit dizzy when I came home today, but it was gone after crafting. My headache disappeared too.
I felt good. I had and have energy... which makes me happy...
YAY :D
